Hi

I am thinking of selling my 3 Channel Dual Rectifier
The biggest reason is I have to crank too loud for it to sound good.

I have pulled 2 tubes to run in 50 watts which fixed the problem but my clean tone suffered.

My Family thinks I'm nuts, I don't blame them
I have lost count of how many items I have bought and sold.

For the first time ever I am selling an amp that sounds perfect.

The only thing I Hate other then the Dual Rectifier killing my hearing is the Parallel Effects Loop. It's useless to me.

I am considering the Dual Rectifier Roadster Head
From what I hear you can assign a different wattage to every channel.
That should take care I my volume problems

Will I be happy with the Roadster Head or will I sell it like just about everything else I have bought.

Ive played the roadster head, and I loved it. I have a trple rec and my biggest complaint is that I dont have alot of tones, just a handful of harshly voiced ones, they sound great, but they get old fast unless your heavying it 24-7.

Sell it private, you may only have to throw a few hundred bucks at the new roadster to get it. I like the roadster better myself.

D.

Why not look into a THD hot plate to reduce the output volume of the amp while still driving the amp to get the sound you want? From what I've read they do little to color the tone, whereas the Marshall Power Brake kills tone bigtime. They have these in 8 ohm, 4 ohm, and 16 ohm. It wouldn't cost much and give you all the options you are looking for. Just a thought.

later on.

I looked into the Hot Plate thing.

I used the dB meter on my cell phone to do an experiment.
I turned my Dual Rectifier up until it sounded sweet.

My cell phone read about 95 dB's.

Then I turned it my Dual Rectifier down until my cell phone read about 83 dB's
so I could see how much reduction the -12 dB setting has.

It turns out that is my ideal level for playing.

How much will the -12 dB setting color my tone in percentage, if at all.

Hi confused:
Oh, you like hitting the sweet spot pushing the power stage tubes to distort.

Last time I mentioned "pushing the power stage tubes to distort", two members here flame me questioned if I like power tube distortion, why should I be playing Boogies? I should be playing vintage Marshall instead.

:? I don't get it why I was flamed, power stage tubes distortion and preamp distortion could be blend to get the tone you are seaching for. That why I like Boogies.

Sorry confused, just venting and ranting. Roadster sounds like a good choice.
