I have a 5:50 that I'm happy with but I've been thinking about a TA-15 for a second amp.
I've been watching the classifieds here waiting for one to pop up. I guess no one's selling so that seems to be a good sign to the quality of the amp.
So what do you guys think, is the TA-15 different enough from what I've already got ?
Does anyone have any leads on a used Transatlantic ?

I have a 5:25 1x10" combo and an Mark V, but finally picked up my own TransAtlantic TA-15 yesterday (it took 6 weeks for the store to get it in!) I played them when they were first released and fell in love with the Top Boost mode in 15 Watts and the Hi 1 mode in 25 Watts just playing around in the store, but I felt the amp would be "redundant" since my Express is my "grab'n'go" amp. But I kept playing them in the shops for the better part of a year, and finally I couldn't resist any longer...

I think that sonically, the TransAtlantic is very different than the Express voicings - less "Fendery" if you will - and I don't think the Express does the AC thing anywhere near as well as the TA-15. Then again, the Express clean channel is hard to beat, and the reverb and effects loop are very handy... Ultimately, both are great sounding amps, so I don't think I'll be selling my Express off any time soon...

Do I think you should get a TA? I dunno... you have to make that leap yourself (who am I to enable your consumerism? ) I will say that I'm very pleased to have mine - in fact, it's coming out to play with me tonight! From store to stage in 24 hours flat - that's gotta say something about an amp...

Well I would certainly consider it. I already had some great gigging amps but got the TA as a back up - and now it is my main gigging set up. It's not that I'm saying it is better than the other amps but it's so damn convenient to have a versatile pro amp that you can throw over your shoulder and run up stairs with - or perhaps I'm just getting old!

I just got one yesterday and I love this thing! Hi 1 is amazing at 25 watts as is the Tweed. Such a great Fender clean on the tweed. This thing sounds like a 50 watt amp. I bought it for recording and practice at the lower settings but I might use it as my main amp for one of my 2 bands.

Well, I've been watching the 'bay and different forums and no one is selling their TA-15.
That really says something about this amp.

I'm telling you even with the TA-30 out I'd never sell this thing!

I agree, nothing against the TA-30 as I'm sure it's a nice amp but I really enjoy the TA-15.

Even though that's not the matched cabinet look for the TAs, that 2x12 really looks NICE with the TA-15! The cross, and the shape of the chrome on the head really works together. Sahhhh - WEET.

What cabinet is that? I have a "Compact" 1x12 widebody on order. Pretty boring look - it just says "Mesa" on it.
