As som of you know i have had isues with my amp not producing the bass out put is shuld.

A cal to mesa confirmed that my amp needs new power filter cabs, and the have now been orderd.

BUT

I have a marshall 1960 BV 280 watt cab, you can run it at 4 ohm or 16 ohm, mono, my c+ has two 4ohm and one 8 ohm outs.

I was recormended using the 4 ohm out of the amp and into the 16 ohm in on the cab, but i cant find enywhere in eny of the boogie manuals that describes this kind of speaker hook up, i can only find a safe mismatch where you use 8 ohm out from amp into 16 ohm in on the cab.

Could this really cause the lack of bass ?

Thanks for your time

Ok il try that .

What about 4 ohms out of the amp to 4 ohm in on the 1960 ?

Thanks for you replay

my mark III is 25 years old and i JUST bought her..local tech who is VERY reputable at a licensed boogie dealer and repair center, gave my amp a clean bill..checked all the voltages and everything.. cleaned and retensioned the sockets, cleaned the jacks..said voltages inside the amp are good to go. out of my marshall cab, without the GEQ (don't have one on mine) the amp is VERY mid heavy..but with an EQ in the loop..holy bass. I have mine on 1-3 at the max and NEVER use the deep switch. I dont know how much bass you're lacking but i dont believe marks we're ever known for a lot of bass, unless you drive the EQ sliders controlling those frequencies up a lot..if you're using the GEQ to its full potential and you feel its lacking bass big time, probably needs new caps. Try your cab 4ohms to 4ohms and see what happens..your ears will tell you..if you like the sound..go with it. if you dont..bring her in!!! I also have an 89 peavey VTM and i brought it in for a cap job..they told me not to waste my money..that it didn't need them yet.

Hi thanks for the write up.

I tried the 4 ohm to 4ohm, diffently sounded best , bass is still lacking because of the filter caps thing , but 4 ohm sounds best with better dynamics and sound.
