I foolishly sold my Studio Pre a while back, thinking that I needed more versatility. I got rid of my analog pedals and bought a Digitech 1101. I learned quite a bit about the Digitech and began using it with few different midi preamps. The versatility was nice, but the tone was falling short.

I realized that I should never have sold the SP. Even if it doesn't have MIDI, it's not worth sacrificing the tone for the versatility; so I bought another SP.

The Studio Pre is now running into a Mesa 295, hooked up to the Digitech via the 4-cable method; and it is just what the doctor ordered.

I'm looking into the Amp Gizmo or possibly trying to find a Mesa Midi Matrix to midi the SP with the Digitech.

Dude...just get a TRIAXIS and a G-Force. Seriously. Stop torturing yourself.

Agreed...Triaxis and a G-Force in the loop yields nice tone. The only challenge I have with the Triaxis is the programming on the fly, unlike amps with knobs, have to push buttons, save presets. I keep the sounds on the G-Force simple, nothing too complicated.

I think you made the right choice.
If the SP is'nt enough, get a Quad Pre and your completely covered. :D
I prefer knobs/switches over preset programmable channels on preamps for simplicity to quickly adjust the tones live on stage.
