......EH EL34's in the triple rec FTMFW!!!!!! I do believe I like these as much if not more than the TAD 6L6GC's I had in there. They got alot cleaner crunch going on and I didn't loose much low end and it's tight as hell. Great sounding power tubes!!

I am weary to try out any more JJ tubes.....They totally sucked in my randall, the preamp tubes weren't bad but weren't great either in my Triple but I like my EH pres better. I just haven't been overly impressed by JJ tubes enough to buy anymore of their product. Overall I am totally happy With EH. All my tubes except 2 preamp tubes are now EH, even the rectifier tubes. This am has never sounded so good.

The JJ preamp tubes are not to my liking at all, muddy and low output compared to EH/Mesa tubes. The power tubes are supposed to be better, but it's all down to personal taste. If Petrucci can get the tones he does with std M/B EL34's (EH) then they sound pretty good to me !! More lows and more output is NOT a reason to use JJ's in a Rectifier !!! Most people moan they're too bassy and loud as it is !!

I had a set of MB EL34's I bought with the amp back in March...they were sovteks and sound nothing like the EH I have now. They were better than the Ruby 6L6's the amp came with, but not as good as these EH.

Strange, the STR447's M/B tubes ARE Sovtek/EH EL34's !!?? :shock:

I am not impressed with the tone of Mesa branded tubes period. They will tell you "oh they are this brand that fall within our specs". Well then your specs are killing the tone these amps are capable of. I called the tube depot and asked for 6 EH EL34's for a triple rec and the ones I got crap all over the str 447 and my str 454 svetlanas.
