i scored a 2:90 for only 400, so i'm thinking about picking up a triaxis too.
can the triaxis do mark series tones well?
what is this phat mod all about? is it good or bad?
are there any settings secrets i should know about?
What up Detroit dog?!
$400 clams is a great score. I've been working with this amp for a long time. Here's some things I've learned:
Get some EL34's and put them in the Class A slots. You don't need to mod the amp, just plug and play. I'd recomend some new ones, and tell your vender that it's for the Class A'sof a 2:90 so you can get a set that will sound their best. This will fill out the tone, and give the tone more cut and grind. Make sure you know which slots are the Class A ones. On the newer models it's different than the older ones. Mines older with a blue jewel light with a diameter approximately of an ink pen; and the Class Aslots are the outer left and right slots.
Also, with the EL34's in the Class A slots, you'll basically have 2 amps. So when kick in the half drive which only runs the class a slots, you'll have roughly a 50watt el34 amp.
Don't bother with the Deep mode. It has a ****** 60hz hum to it. You can get enough bass by using the Dynamic Voice on the TriAxis and without the hum.
The Modern is cool to. I boosts the upper mids to give a more difined sound.
My TriAxis has the phat mod, and I don't like it. I think it's way to loose and washy to use at all. If you want a recto tone, don't get a Tri with the phat mod.
