I use to play through a 3CH DR and 4x12 Mesa cab...I since sold that set up and am now getting back into playing out again.
The sweet sound of my DR with Dougs setup always came alive just above the db mark on stage. Other words I was too loud for the band when I was able to get the the sound I wanted..SO I thought I would go with the SR and crank the dog snott out of it with a 2x12.
Are there any difference in tone between the two? I'm sureI will run the same Doug tube setup in the SR as I did in the DR.

AND any have a VHT D60? How does it compare to the SR?

the single recto is easier to dial a good tone and it is much tighter. it is a loud amp so...........

the most inherent difference to me would be the fact there is no tube rectification, so if you liked to use silicon diodes vs tubes in your DR, then you probably wont miss much with the single

Going down to a 2x12 is probably your best choice although you would still be fine using a Dual Rectifier. There isn't a huge difference in volume of a 50 watt amp and a 100 watt amp. It will have less headroom though since it's 50 and you will be able to work your tubes more and hit that sweet spot sooner. How many speakers you have pushing air really changes things too. Imagine the sound of 4 engines running and then turn off 2. Or think, a 100 voice choir is louder than a 50 voice choir.

Single Rectifiers are great amps. They do only have a Silicon Diode Rectifier though. You can find them used pretty cheap. So a Solo 50 and a 2x12 would be a nice sounding set up for a good price but it will still have the capability of being too loud. You'll just be able to find your sweet spot sooner at a lower decibel level.
