Hey guys, first post but have been a long time lurker/creep lol. Just got a used mark V head from guitar center last week for a great price and am loving it! Here's a question for anyone who is using a tc electronic flashback delay:

If I put the delay through the front of the amp, every setting on the pedal comes through loud and clear and works just fine. If I put the same pedal through the effects loop, every mode works, except "lo-fi" and "dynamic" which are almost inaudible on the delay repeats no matter how high I crank the settings on the pedal or how much I turn up the loop.

I started my diagnosing of issues by first switching all cables, then I switched the V6 preamp tube to a brand new mesa 12ax7, then I called boogie and they suggested I try taking a cable and just linking the effect loop send and return together to see if there was issue in the loop, taking all effect related issues out of the equation and the amp passed that test as well.

So I don't think it's the amp, it's not the cables or power source, it's not tube related. The pedal works just fine in the front, and in most modes in the loop except the two I called out earlier. I'm out of ideas lol. Does anyone else have this issue or have any suggestions for me.

Thanks for any replies and thank you all for the wealth of talent and knowledge on this forum. It has been a pleasure and an education to read through page after page

Thanks again ---Mike

Is there any chance the loop out is too hot for the particular modes of the delay making them prone to clipping?
I always put my flashback in the front of both my MkV and my LSS.
no matter how careful I am setting the masters and the loop send level it always sounds congested...

I have the flashback in the loop and it sounds great! I also had a TC Electronics Nova before that in the loop and it also sounded good.

I keep my loop send level at noon and the channel masters around 11:00 o'clock

I have the same exact problem, also with those 2 modes with my Mark V. I have the loop level at noon, and all the other modes sound great. A shame, as I prefer the Dynamic mode.

That's actually really good news that you have the same issues. As much as I like the pedal I'm more happy to know that there's nothing at all wrong with the amp and that my problem could be replicated because all my buddies who I've asked thought I was out to lunch.

On a brighter note, I swapped the flashback for a carbon copy by mxr and the pedal has a lovely effect on my tone as far as "rounding" it out and making it smooth. Some folks might not like that but with the pedal active in the loop, single note leads are beautifully smooth

I've heard that the Carbon Copy sounds really good with the Mark V. That's what Mark Morton uses with his Mark's.

Yeah, I might swap for a CC myself..

Tried some toniprints last night on the flashback. Petrucci's, Ritenour's.. not thrilled..

Dude try the carbon copy. I started playing and it went like 10-15 minutes before I realized that everything seemed kinda effortless and really smooth so I stepped on the fx button on my mark v footswitch taking the carbon copy outta the mix, and I was right back to the usual slightly grainy treble heavy lead sound.

Set the Flashback to buffered mode. ( I never used it in the 2 modes you mentioned it could be an issue with just those modes)
I had issues with the carbon copy dropping volume in the loop returned it.
If you want a killer pedal with an internal gain trim pot try the catlinbread echorec it is amazing. You just have to be patient with adjusting the gain trim correctly.

I use one in the loop of my Mark V and have no such issue
I'd say you have the "Kill Dry" active on the pedal. Change the switches on the underside and it'll come right.
