If anyone is looking for a studio pre it looks to be a good deal as long as it works.

That was a good price. I paid a bit more for mine. After a re-tube...I gotta say it was killer. Awesome tone and tons of fun to play with. They really react differently than the Triaxis. The triaxis feels more compressed and processed.

Everybody should have one.

I was toying with the idea of having the TA, Studio pre, Mark IV, 290, and 20/20 but there's not much point IMO because it's like buying all of the same thing with slight variations in tone. I will probably keep the TA rig and Mark IV unless the Mark blows me and makes me forget about the TA.

I use all mine for different stuff. MkIV is my live rig. It sounds awesome live. The TX, 2:90, and now studio are used in the studio. I'll record bands live and can get good direct tone to "tape" without needing to mic cabs. (I don't have the room to do thatwhile tracking drums and vocals) I'll then run The TX or studio in to one or both sides of the 2:90 to cabs in the isolated room for mic cab overdubs. I like the flexibility of the TX in the studio and the (relative) simplicity of the MKIV for gigs. The studio is another great studio tool as well.

They all do have the capability of getting very similar tone, but there are definite differences and each has it's own character.

I've been slowly building up the collection over the last 10 years or so. I can't stand to part with them now. Kinda like a family now... :)
