Just two chords for tone testing. Gibson Explorer > Studio Pre (recording out) > cheap soundcard > cabinet simulator. Double tracked. Just thought I'd share.

Thank you gonzo, I think this is my best attempt with direct recording so far. However there's always some bite and attack missing with direct recording, mic'ing up a cab can never be reproduced in every nuance I believe.
 
The overall sound sounds great, I think your guitar tone sits well in the mix, but it needs a little low end, IMO, just a bit of bang somewhere down there.
