I didn't want to attempt this without getting more info first..

Would anyone know if I could use the studio pre's recording out for a headphone jack? I didn't want to damage my headphones, they were $600... Also, I know the tube rule never power up your amp without having your output jack(s) connected to the speakers or bad stuff will happen...

So, with that said, I wanted to ask you guys n' gals here first. Has this been done without a mixer? direct into a headphone?

I do have an older zoom effect processor, but really don't wanna use that in the effects send/receive of the pre just for headphone use.. I'd rather just eliminate that step all together.

please advise.

Best,
Jason

should be fine. I would recommend running the recording out into a headphone amp though, then into head phones.

You can power up preamps just fine without outputs hooked up. Power amps are the ones that need to have the correct load or the transformers can be damaged.
