Hi, I'm new to the board and to this amp, hope someone here can help with this.
I am having trouble with huge volume differences between the rhythm and lead settings on this amp. When I dial in a good usable rhythm volume (say vol.4 master4) and hit the footswitch, the volume and gain boost almost peels the paint off of the outside of the house! It dosn't matter what the lead master is set at either, it goes from "over the top" to QUICK TURN IT OFF
!
Conversely, if I fiddle with getting a useable lead volume level, the rhythm volume is way too quiet.

Any thoughts anyone?

Welcome to the board. Do you mean the lead is always too loud, also when the lead master is turned all the way down to 0? If yes the problem probably is this pot that does not respond correctly.

jukesgtr,
Thanks for the response, I'll take a meter to it and see what's going on.

No problem. Even before doing any measurements check if the lead alone does act funny way, being too loud....turn that lead master pot up and down...

That's just the way they are, and that's why Mesa added the "Lead Master" volume pot to better mix the two channels.
