i've been doing about 1 hour a day on the Mk V for a year now. In general happy with everything except the clean tone on channel 1 which tends to sound tinny and thin to my ears.

I need a clean guitar tone for some songs I'd normally play acoustic on, but that's not an option here.

Tried turning the presence down, tried turning the guitar (humbucker) tone and or volume control down but still can get a warm tone

Open to some clean channel suggestions that folks on here might recommend?

What guitar and what pups?

I use a loop parametric EQ pedal for significant tone changes.

A wide variety of lower output pups sound good, especially if you do a blackface type scoop.

I didn't like my MKV over the gain tones but the cleans with a Tele were good.

The guitar is a PRS custom 22. Thanks for the replys. I have put more work into it and I'm happier now. Seems like turning the presence down even more has helped. Also the level on channel 1 was set too low relative to the other channels and so had to run the guitar volume at max which was over brightening the sound.

Are you running the GEQ or Preset Depth on? I generally get the best results with them off.

Make sure you've got your volume and gain up. I usually run my gain at 12 and my volume between 12-3.

Watch out for the bass. I tend to find the clean channel can be incredibly bassy all of which disappears when the band starts playing. Keep your bass low, especially if you're on fat clean.

I use Fat and turn pres. down to 9 o'clock. also I use a les paul and have always adjusted the pups on an angle away from treb. strings. also if this is not enough, turn in the screws on the pup on the E and B strings. that should warm it up a bit. The MKV doesn't lie. most guitars are treble happy. I hope those tricks help out....

I run the volume really high like 3 oclock and use the gain to get volume from there. This really helps with balancing volume with the other channels.
