Strat/Tele Tuners Questions.

I have an american tele and a mim strat,

Im looking to get some locking tuners on them and i am confused about the process.
Do i need extra parts or spacers to hold the tuners or are all these things universal and the same size/fit?

Basically i want to just drop them in without drilling holes or any of that,
can you guys reccomend some specific brands/models that will work ?

the MIM you need 10mm...... basically avoid vintage style
you more than likely have the ones with two pins unseen and no screws.

but alas on "locking" type i have no idea...just on what's there.

do yourself a favor....while your at it..

look at the ones that have the graduated posts.

get rid of the string tree.

you'll be so happy.

I ordered the same ones last Thursday... got a graphite nut installed and getting a Kahler 2315 next week

Graphite nut huh, i guess the stock ones dont cut it?
How hard are they to install anyways...prob going to try and pick one up now as well.

I've added a roller nut. for a "bender" it's awesome.

The graphite nut sounds the same as the bone nut I had on it before... The graphite is a lot nicer than putting graphite powder in the nut slots. I'm going to try this setup with the Kahler first but I also have a Floyd Rose locking nut that I will install if the Sperzels and graphite nut don't cut it.

Tried the Graphite nut... I decided it wasn't stable enough and went with the Floyd locking nut. Well I got the old router our and the 1/4" straight router bit. And OMG it slipped and went halfway across from my old nut slot to my first fret!!!




Just kidding.... A locking nut is the only way to go with any of these... the Sperzels are nice for quick restringing but they don't stabilize the tuning any better than regular tuners IMO.
