STR-450s are NOS Siemens, right ? Please read......

I have a quad of Siemens EL34's. I find they don't live up to the hype after I upgraded everything else in the system.

Tone is definitely subjective, quality is not. There isn't anything being made currently that is on the level of that Seimens tube when it comes to quality of construction. Those things are bullet proof and will probably last 5 times as long as a Russian or Chinese EL34.

about 2 weeks ago I went to the Mesa website and ordered a pair of el34 450s for $70. With all of the talk about 450s not being available, I was expecting an "out of stock" email, but lo and behold within a week a pair of 450s showed up on my doorstep. Maybe I just got lucky?

As of Feb 1 they are $150/pair, but they are still in stock, I assure you. I think the people saying they're out of stock are just trying to horde them.
