STR 418's what are they?

Anyone ever heard of STR 418 6L6 tubes? What are they?

A myth, I assume. The last I remember is the Phillips 415, 416 and the Chinese was labeled was the 420. Who knows, maybe it was a short lived Chinese tube as well as its replacement the 419. I have never heard of either.

I won some 6L6 GC tubes on Ebay. The Box says STR415's the seller says the tubes say STR 418. :?:

Okay the seller contacted Mesa and they say they are long discontinued 6550's.
Can I use those in place of 6L6's?

Hell NO !!!! The 6550's were only for the Bass amps. I dont think your amps can handle the current draw.

I'll have to trade them out than. Still a deal at 5 for $150 + 2 SPAX12ax7's... NOS US made 6550's are getting $175 a pair! 8)
