Sold my stilleto deuce on ebay, the amp arrived at the buyers house with the rectifier tubes at an angle.Obviously been bashed around in transit. He fixed them in and played the amp for 1hr,then the fuse went. He's sending the amp back as he says he has a bad feeling about the amp.The amp will be here tommorow and i'll check it out as soon as i get it.But to me it sounds like either the rectifier tubes are damaged or one of the tubes are needing replaced. If so how would i tell which need replaced or will i have to replace the set.I've lodged a complaint with the courier and they will have to pay the cost of replacement tubes. The amp was perfect when i packaged it up,fragile stickers, this way up e.t.c. Its the last time i sell to someone who isnt local.

Sounds like the best approach for you is to let a qualified tech check out the amp. As for the fuse blowing, it may be indicative of some problem beyond the rectifier tubes, especially if the amp got damaged in shipment.

Did the buyer happen to mention if he tried both the tube and the solid-state rectifiers?

I hope that you get some compensation from the courier. Hopefully the buyer took pictures of the packaging to bolster your case.

He didnt mention if he'd tried the tube and solid-state rectifiers. He did say that the packacking was ok,which leads me to believe he must has done somthing to the rectifier tubes when he put them back in.
I'll know more tommorow when i recieve the amp back.I have a suspicious feeling that he just did'nt like the sound of the amp,and the fuse going was just an excuse to back down on the purchase. In the conversation i had with him he said he did'nt try the footswitch which was a bit suspect, then he did'nt know how to set up the output/solo.I think that as it was his 1st mesa he just could'nt get on with it.As it stands i'll probebly get the amp fixed and keep it.
Just talked to the couriers,i can claim for the full amount of damage cost.So at least the amp will be fixed.

Sounds like your suspicion might be right in that he decided that he didn't like the amp and was looking to get out of it.

Put a new fuse in, it blew, its a faulty tube. The power tubes glowed and the other tubes.Could be that the tube just dislodged,i'll look at that later. But it looks like he sent the amp back because a tube went...which could happen anytime when you own a valve amp! I still believe he did'nt like the sound.
Update: Just looked at the power tube, wasnt dislodged its definetly blown.

Fixed :D It was the tubes, replaced all the tubes with E34L-STR Harma Diamond tubes http://www.watfordvalves.com/product_detail.asp?id=850.The new tubes really sound amazing, really give the amp a punch.I tried it with my MXR 10 band Eq and my boss distortion pedal,it just sounded awesome!
I've decided to keep the amp,i'm glad the sell fell through now!! A big thank you to Watford valves for helping me.
