To the OP: have you tried working with how the the master and output levels interact? I've found that on my Ace, master low + output high = harsh, whereas keeping the master at 11:00 or more, it gets much more compressed and less harsh. Of course you have to be willing to run it with the loop in.
Stiletto Trident is a Bit Harsh. Help!?
