Outside of the wattage, are there any tonal difference b/w the Deuce and the Ace? Ace is plenty loud for me, just wondering if the Deuce have any subtle differences I should hear before plunking down money on an Ace.

The Deuce probably has a little more thump in the bottom end. Who knows though... their are tons of guys who swear by the 50 watt Marshalls as opposed to their 100 watt counterparts.

They have different tranformers so I'm sure there is a bit of difference . My Deuce is an amazing amp . Les pauls fit like a glove with a stiletto

honestly, there is a REAL difference between the two amps.

I bought a Stiletto Ace.

then i decided it was too shrill and trebly for me..even with many many tube changes.
i got a good deal on a Deuce II and mesa told me beforehand it would have more low end.
it does.

yes they were recorded differently, but there was an incredibly major difference.
The Ace is MUCH cleaner of a signal. the CLARITY of the tone coming out of that combo was absolutely astounding, especially when comparing it to the Deuce. the deuce does sound different, and more low end, and when i went back and forth i actually thought i preferred the Ace combo better. But...i like the low end from the Deuce more, and therefore decided to sell the Ace on ebay and keep the Deuce II.

I am not sorry, and my tone now i am really digging.

you can hear the difference in a band situation.

Listen to this...

this was recorded with a Triaxis.

my guitar is louder than the other, so the tone you hear is more the Stiletto than the the singer's fender.
