I have to questions... One I hooked up my old g major into the loop (which has always worked fine with my other amp) and the output drops signifcantly when the fx loop is switch on. level is at noon, but doesnt matter since the gmajor has an input and output control. the input is adjusted so that it doesn't clip, and i maxed the output, but it still produces a large volume drop. is there something wrong in my chain, what might i need to do to make it work right?

also, I have a 5150 II, and now the mark v. how do i hook them up in stereo? I did use a splitter cable to put my guitar directly into both amps, but if i want effects involved how do i do this? I tried the guitar into MV, FX out into gmajor mono in, gmajor mono out into mv FX in, out to cab... and used the gmajor's right out (i beleive that is the stereo one) into both the guitar input of the 5150 (with nothing else hooked up except the cab) and into the loop return of the 5150 (with nothing plugged into the front) this did nothing but result in an uncotrollably loud 5150II, and lots of feedback

how do i do this?

The way you have the stereo setup is correct; are you sure you didn't have the post volume up too high on the 5150?

For your other problem, I would increase the Loop Send level and then adjust the G's I/O levels to compensate.

which way was correct?

the right out of the gmajor to the input of the 5150

or

the right out to the effects return of the 5150?

the post was at just above 1 (high bedroom level)...
I plugged the guitar directly into the effects return, and all I get is a really loud clean (at the low post volume)

also would plugging into the effects return send the distorted signal from the Mark 5 / gmajor?

thanks

ive always thought peavey effects loop was very subpar. Depending on how many cabs u have if you have 2 u can juse use a channel splitter pedal that plug into both inputs of the 5150II and the mark v that way your not going through two sets of effect loops its just straight. Now with your gmajor i will tell you that the mark v will be much better at handdleing this than the 5150II. Theres many ways in doing it, i know my boss dd3 has a effects out and just a straight out that will allow me to hook up two amps to it, and it will give one amp the delay singal and then nothing for the other singal so you can get a lil delay in there for a nice layerin sound.

It seems that you have your input levels OK. So let's concentrate on the output settings.

Start by checking your individual patch output settings. Ideally you want them at no lower than -6dB. Next, in the I/O block, there is a setting that controls the maximum gain range of the analog output stage. The choices are 2dBu, 8dBu, 14dBu, & 20dBu. Change it to the next higher setting and re-adjust your output control. This should take care of your volume drop when you switch in the FX loop.

This is explained in the G-Major manual.
