Standby Switch On Studio...

I realized last night that the Standby switch on my Studio pre doesn't entirely mute the amp. In other words, when the pre is on standby, I still get sound. It's at a lower volume but still there is sound. Is this normal? This happens when the 50/50 is not on standby. Is that the reason? In other words, do both units have to be on standby?

At first, I thought "Hmm, this doesn't sound right". There was no bottom, loss of power, etc. Then I realized it was on Standby.
