Does anyone stack any OD's in front of their amps?

right now ive got an OCD with the gain just below 9 oclock in the LP mode to push my amp to breakup. puts just a little touch sensitive hair in there.

I also run a BB PREAMP MB in front with the mids completely boosted and the bass cut... almost like a TS setting, i stomp it in for lead stuff.

should i run the bb before or after the ocd? ive been just using my ears but wonder if is there actually a proper order of stacking?

It's what ever sounds best to you really. I use a MI crunchbox with a ts9 behind it for solo boost, and then I went to BB Preamp with SD1 in front. Now I am just using amp gain with a BB as a solo boost, so there really is no set order of pedals.

Yep.

Currently have an original Marshall Drive Master (awesome) into a Maxon Super Tube Screamer (original) into a Wampler Pinnacle II. I don't have them on all at the same time but I'm experimenting with the Wampler on all the time and testing one of the others to be on all the time as well. Gain and output levels vary to control feedback, noise and input levels into the next pedal. So far, the Marshall>Wampler combination sounds great for rhythm! TS> Wampler sounds good for lead. I haven't switched pedals around for different combinations at this stage. Have to find some time.

I've got a lot of OD pedals to test, try and combine......

I've got a 9ch looper and an 8ch Rocktron Patchmate that I can hook up in various combinations of pedals. This will allow me to get a variety of rhythm tones and solo tones. It's pretty mental, really.

All in all, I'm trying to find a really good combination for my amp. I won't be using all this stuff at once. It'll be insane to even try. It's fun, though.

Another thought is if you have two different dirt pedals to run in front of the amp, maybe you don't have the correct amp for the application. :?: I agree it is easier to put a pedal or two in front to get what you want, and that money maybe be an issue, but don't ignore the fact that the amp may not be able to do what you want it to on its own. Just a suggestion.

its really whichever sounds best to your ears. but the general "rule" that youre asking about is that you should put lighter gain pedals before heavier gain pedals in the chain.

I've tryed tubescreamers and whatever OD's in front of my dual, but for my taste I continue to use the Boss Turbo Overdrive. It only depends on what you want to hear. Tomorrow, maybe it will be an OCD, TS-808 or even... nothing!
