Hey guys!

Loving every bit of my new Stiletto....such an amazing amp....so versatile, and gets so many tones so well. Really a gem from Mesa.

My question though....what speakers do you run with the amp?

Most probably stick with the V30s from what I see, but I've heard some clips of GREAT results with G12-75Ts.

I'm also very curious about greenbacks.

What are you guys using? Anyone venture to try any celestions other than V30s?

Thanks much!

im running my Deuce I through both of my Marshall JCM900 Cabs with G12-75Ts in them. i personnally think this combo sounds amazing. but then again i havent played this head through V30s.

have a look at the G12-65.

I have just installed one after a recommendation on here, I have practise tonight so I will see how it sounds with the band.

I only use (have) mesa cabs. But I love how the vintage 30's sound with the stiletto.

I tried the stiletto out before I bought it yesterday with one of the older mesa cabs (metal grill looking ones) and it sounded amazing through that cab also.

I second it on the GS12-75s. I'm running two cabs with these in them. The Vintage 30s break up too soon and have a odd midrange honky tone to them and a flabby bottom end.

I went speaker crazy for two weeks when I received my Ace 2x12.

Taking the V30's out changed the way the whole amp sounded.
I tried Greenbacks - they gave the amp a lovely "old school" sound - smooth and round, less bass, less biting high end. AC/DC sounding.

I tried 2 g12-75's and they imparted a "strident," harder sound - it reminded me of those old Hiwatt combos from the early '70's.

I tried two Celestion g12-65's and loved the tone! Again it took the Ace away from the "modern" sounds it has with the V30's, but really pretty, smooth and sweet.

I tried several combinations of these speakers, but because they're all different in how efficient they are some combos's didn't work - V30 + Greenback has a great sound, but you're mostly hearing the V30 with some "sweetness" coming from the Greenback, but the Greenback is overpowered by the V30.

G12-65 + Greenback is heavenly for me, but I really prefer the "older" sounds of EL34 TUBES.

I eventually ordered 2 Weber AlNiCo 1265's, which were just beautiful! Because they're less efficient it took a bit of the volume out of the amp (which works great for me) and I love it!

I do have a Recto 4x12 cab with the V30's in it (I have two beam-blockers over the top two V30's) for when I need to sound HUGE.
I also have an old 4x12 cab that now has two Greenbacks and two Weber AlNiCo 1265's for when I want a "classic" tone.
Currently my 2x12 Ace also has 2 Weber 1265's.

Once I can save up enough money I'm going to try 2 Celestion Golds!

Any more help for me?

The more and more I play, the more I think V30s just aren't the speaker for me. I played the Stiletto on a Bugera cab, and was honestly quite impressed

Gotta ditch these speakers...but for what?

Thanks much!

after using the G12-65 at rehersal the other day I can honestly say I am 100% happy with it.

It's very smooth, all of the harshness is gone (still got to watch the treble and presence settings) and the Ace seems more crunchy and open.

Celestion G12-65 gets a big thumbs up from me :D
