I was wondering in regards to using the 3rd channel option on the Rec Pre via the Solo feature.

If I'm in Modern Mode and hit the Solo Button, I'm now in Vintage Mode. Now what I'm wondering about is volume controls for this mode. Should the Live Output knob be disabled by the amp automatically and only the Live Solo knob active to control the volume of the 'extra' Vintage Mode or are both knobs meant to be active??

Mine is currently both active. This bothers me if it's meant to be like this as I'd like to have the Vintage mode quieter sometimes. With both knobs active, this isn't possible without the aid of external devices.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It seems like this might be the case unless you have the 2:100 power amp. I'm getting good at answering my own answers here

I found this in the manual.

The controls will affect both sounds, so you will not be able to dial up independent Channels,
but when used with the companion power amp (Rectifier Stereo 2:100) this little trick can be quite effective. This “smart power” amp
tracks the preamp mode and switches the negative feedback circuit to match the Mode in use on the Recto Pre. In this scheme, the SOLO
Control is switched to a different part of the circuit where it ceases to be a parallel OUTPUT and becomes a separate MASTER volume for
the VINTAGE mode.

So my next question is: Will it work with the 2:90 power amp also as this too has a 'Modern Mode'. I really really hope so as this is the amp I'll be using. I'll be getting it next week.

Of course, but why to get a 2:90 instead of a 2:100. You'll never get a genuine recto sound not like a 2:100.

Ok excellent. Thanks for that!

And why a 2:90? I got one cheapish 2nd hand because I've never even seen a 2:100 for sale in Australia
If I did, it'd be in my rack 8)

And what about this one...

Cheers for the link but I've seen this one listed a few times. Good price for sure but not enough feedback for an expensive item imho plus there's no returns. Sold as is. Also it's a 110v version so I'd have to spend hundreds more getting it converted.
If you see a 240v version, let me know :D

Hmmmm...I see. Very hard for you to get one 240V version. It seems to be very rare though. Maybe it worth the trouble of waitting for a great deal and to bring it to a tech for the mod. I've been lucky i got mine from canada with no costum fees, without taxes at half price. Good luck. I keep my eyes open.

Yes, definitely rare esp in Oz. I picked up my 2:90 for a good price and it's in excellent condition. It just arrived today actually and I've just got back from my first jam with my repaired Recto Pre and 2:90. Absolute killer!! So much more definition, crunch, punch and clarity whilst still sounding brutally heavy. And it's just going to get better :D

And supposedly the 2:100 is a heap better again with the Recto Pre. Damn

Loving it 8)
