hey

i saw in another thread someone does this and its a great idea . is there any possible downside to doin this ?

I currently run my tuner in the effects loop with my 3 effects as I dont like anything in front of the amp and getting it out of the loop would be cool

You can't mute the signal, so everyone can hear you tune. Other than that, it's fine.

The down side is a tuner well not tune very good like this. Most tuners are not made to work at line level. If you are using any distortion it well not tune very accurate at all. For it to work best it needs a signal direct from the instrument. There is the reason no professionals do this and it is not recommended by the makers of the tuner.

It is a bad idea.

This.

I tried using the slave out of my Dual Rec for the tuner input, and the tuner went crazy. I couldn't get an accurate reading. I ended up using one of the stereo outs on my effects unit and manipulating the effects unit until I got a very low signal coming through the speakers which wouldn't be heard on stage.

You need an un-EQ'd signal with no distortion straight from the instrument for a tuner to work it's best. That's why tuner pedals are placed first in the line.

cool. I use mine in the effects loop and that works fine for me . there's no silent tuning on stage but I go to the clean channel to tune anyway so its not too offensive .I know they supposed to work better before the amp after the guitar but theres no doubt in my mind the boss tu2 eats some tone

I also had bad luck trying something like this...I tried a tuner in the loop and the readings were unstable at best.
I suggest a clip on tuner...I got one recently, the Intellitouch PT10, and am really impressed! :D :D

And you can just leave it clipped on....the PT10 "hides" behind the peghead so the audience won't notice it, but it works great! :D

a clip on tuner is a great idea actually. I would rather silent tuning and my planet waves cable has a kill switch so that would work
