To remove muddy bass you've got a few options, namely lowering the value of the cathode bypass caps from 1uf to 680n (start there and see how you go), and the coupling caps (lower the value to 10n or so, see how you go).

Modding the loop just to use a pedal is another thing to carry, another expense, another power supply, another cable; a sledgehammer when a scalpel would be better.

It was just a simple suggestion to throw here in case anyone else was interested. It has helped out a bunch of people I've recommended it to on other platforms. I'm sorry that bothered you.

modding your amp is for people who like soldering and thinking about playing more than they like actually playing. Nep's suggestion is how people who actually play their amps have been doing this for 25 years.
 
I’m not taking sides here. The comment about ‘sledgehammer when a scalpel is needed’ reminded me of this sketch, so I thought some non-value add diversion would lighten the mood LOL
