For no apparent reason, I replaced the power tube circuit board in my Single Rec with sockets,

Very nice, that looks a lot tougher than the old PCB mounted setup.
That's one thing I love about the 2Ch rectos, the power tubes are chassis mounted and use ceramic sockets for both preamp and power tubes.

 THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I have been searching for pictures of the exact modification you just made for months! The power tube board on my RoV Series 2 was driving me nuts every time I opened my amp! Especially after perusing so many wonderful pics of old school dual's! I knew I had to get rid of that little PCB and hardwire those GD tube sockets! (I've also been doing some research into how I can transform my combo into a head, but thats another story..) I love my first Mesa soo much... but being the tinkering technician that I am, I knew it could benefit from some more solid wiring in certain locations, and also analyze the grounding scheme to see if it could be improved.. This whole thing started when I had to replace a 30uf Sprague filter cap in my amp that was starting to bulge and leak just a tiny bit.. (gotta nip that in the bud before it caused damage!) I Successfully replaced it, and at that point I realized that I needed to do a bit more tidy-work if you will. But let me just say, I cannot describe the elation that I felt when I came across these pictures. You've done such a beautiful and solid job here that I am using your pictures as a baseline for my modification! =) Thank you again for such an awesome post!

Oh yeah while I was inside the amp, I sanded down the chassis a bit where the ground connections were made to the chassis just to get a better electronic connection. I see you have combined your AC mains ground along with the grounding point for the first stage in the filter supply. Any comments on how that worked out for you?
