My Strat is a 91 American Standard...about a year ago, I replaced the stock setup with a pre-wired pickguard from Acme Guitar Works, featuring Lindy Fralin Blues Special pickups....also done was the "Tele-Mod" that changed the center tone to a master tone, and made the bottom tone knob a "blender" knob. Depending on if you had the neck or bridge p-up selected, you could blend in the other (neck or bridge) p-up to get that Tele twang, or if you had bridge-middle or neck-middle, you can blend in the 3rd p-up for another tone....
Bottom line is, the Fralins are a bit hotter, and sound awesome with the Road King. There has been some, but not much tweaking...just enough so that I can play both axes without any major on-stage tweakfest.
