simuclass 2:90 deep modern question

hi guys,,,, just got my triaxis ver 2.0 and simul 2:90 yesterday


everything seems to be working right

have a question since im new to this piece of gear... when i press the loop sw button...to switch on deep and modern
when deep and modern are together the led lights become dimmer? when stand alone its bright...does this mean its still working??? (deep and modern together?)do you guys experience the same?

Do you mean the lights on the Triaxis become dimmer? Or do you mean the lights on the 2:90?

My 2:90 does that a little bit. It doesn't mean anything bad. It's still works. I think the LEDs just get a little old and sensitive to slight voltage changes. You should be able to tell if Deep or Modern is on because it should sound different.

i was talking about the 2:90 when i select both deep and modern the lights get dim....they still are on but are way dimmer then if i were to just select modern for instance.

and for the voicing switch,,going from 2:90 to triaxis,,,is it ok to use instrument patch cables there?

Yes, patch cables are fine. Sounds like everything is working ok. It's old gear, some things get a bit tired, but as long as it all sounds ok. Enjoy!

I'd be a little concerned. The LEDs run off of a 3.2V DC supply that is rectified internally. If that supply is weak (due to the rectifier diodes or series R going bad), then the supply may be sagging. It needs to be able to run as many as 3 LEDs, 2 relays and 2 LDRs in parallel. If you try to run all 3 modes at the same time, it may not work reliably. It may get worse over time.

I don't think my LEDs do that, but I'll have to look at them the next time I fire it up.

Elvis, I would have thought the circuit for the LEDs is still separate from the actual audio circuit for the amp. My LEDs have always been a flaky yet the audio side of it is rock solid. No pops during switching either. I have no plans to do anything about mine.

I just checked mine. Two lights on together are dimmer than one only. With all 3 lights, the half drive LED is VERY dim.

Interesting. I still suspect the DC rail is dropping, but only about 1V is required for the switching circuit, as it's LEDs and NPNs.

Ando, according to the schematic, the LED circuit is part of the switching circuit. But, the relay coils may have been drawn incorrectly, or I may be reading them wrong (the copy I saw was not very clear).

Mine (older model blue pilot version) does that too, I think it's normal.
