Got a repair quote for 125-200 as far as replacing LDRs and other basic maintenance. one month from today i should be jammin on it again!

That sounds like a good deal, considering these amps are really very undervalued presently and I think are destined to be a future 'vintage classic'. Best to get it sorted out all in one go by the people that built it.

That sounds like a great deal! A friend of mine just paid $300 to have a varistor replaced and new tubes installed on a Mark III. (semi-local hack...um, I mean tech)

I'd like to pick up a TOV sometime. I've seen some really good deals on them lately. I almost bought one last spring, but opted for a PRS instead.

It's something that's on my GAS list for sure.

Yeah I was surprised at Mesas quote. Though it is rather expensive at about 60-70 an hour, it seems entirely worth it. I will be shipping them both of my mark III chassis together once i get this back to get all the necessarys replaced as they have never had maintenance. They will either go to him or a local forumite who seems promising. I was quoted 300-350 by a local tech, who was a COMPLETE dick and ******* to me and my father. Music Technology in Springfield, told the guy I was thinking about sending it to mesa, he said "get your amp out of my shop because you are just wasting my time i guess"

$60-70 an hour is cheap for the level of skill and experience you're getting - and it's a real factory overhaul, not a local tech (hack) so you can be certain the workmanship will be to the original standard and only the correct parts will be used. I'm a tech myself and some of the work I see from other 'techs' (some of who I even know are supposedly properly trained) is shockingly bad. Maybe they just don't care enough to do the job well and use the right parts... but they often charge plenty anyway.

I cant stand music tech in springfield, if you drive goto silverspring and the place right next to chucks, if they are still authorized I know in the past they have done great work and usually get an amp in and out of there in 2 to 3 weeks, worth the hour drive each way from woodbridge for me.

Should have thrown the amp at his head and said a few words.

I sent my roadking to mesa for service. I can say that they treated me very well, sent my amp back perfect with all
updates possible, and although it was longer than I would have liked, it was more reasonable than most so called amp tech's in my area. I usually end up bring the amp back more than once and paying each time for something they screw up.
I highly believe in the manufacturer doing the work. They won't do your mods, but they will update it with any known issues, bench test it, and have it back to you like new. Can't beat that.
/cheers
