HEllo,

Yesterday I was sooo dumb I forgot to plug the cab in the head, I switched it on, no sound. max volume...still no sound...then, it started to make weird noises, and I shut it down to standby. I switched it on again, and I saw a big arc, a lighning in the back. I switched it off. Then I realised what my mistake was. I plugged it in, switched on, and It worked, but the far left tube (view from behind) did not seem to work (no light at all). So I switched off again.

I probably blew that tube, so I'll need to change it:
Do I have to buy 4 new tubes? or just two, and replace the 4th and the 1st? or just one to replace the 4th, the wrong one?

I hope I didn't cause any further damage and I didn't kill my amp :(

Thank you for your help in advance!

Greg

Only way to find out is just replace the one tube and it's mate and turn it on.....if it fixes the problem then great, but i'd still replace the other pair before too long because no load on a tube amp is bad news man.

Thanks! The problem is that in this miserable country of mine there is not very much 6L6 available (no mesa products at all). I rang up every store, one had some chinese stuff, I said no thanks, the other had electro-harmonix, and they sell it in pairs. I'll go for it. If they sell them in pairs, how do I put 4 of them in my amp so that they match?

You could download the manual from the Mesa Website, and they totally explain the how and why of your amp. Normally tubes go in pairs from the two outside tubes run in pairs, and the two inside tubes are pairs EX: XOOX, or OXXO. After re tubing, any funny noise or smell shut it down and go to the repair shop!
