I scored a mint NOS high gain amp switcher from GC with the full five year warranty. For all of those that have them, how easy are they to set up with a GCX to run two separate amps (IIC+ head with a 4x12, and a LSC 2x12 Combo)? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Super easy to set-up. If you plan on using both amps at the same time just use two outs of two of the loops on the GCX to switch the amp switcher. Use preamp sends 1 and 2 to send to the inputs of your amps. If you plan on using only one amp at a time you could use just one loop of the GCX by using the send and the out of one loop to switch the amp switcher.

Thanks for the reply. I definitely wanna use both at the same time, because I want to have my lead channel be the Lonestar lead and IIC+ lead. Any chance you could send me a detailed PM about how to set it up to do so? Thanks.

Basically, you would plug straight into the amp switcher. You come out of the amp switcher (preamp/amp send 1) to the input of the first amp and (preamp/amp send 2) to the input of the second amp. To control it, connect a standard chord(I think it can be shielded or unshielded) from the loop out on the GCX to amp switch 1 on the amp switcher(to control preamp/amp send 1 on/off) and another loop out on the GCX to amp switch 2 on the amp switcher(to control preamp/amp send 2 on/off). Once you see the back of the amp switcher it should all make sense. You won't use the returns on the amp switcher unless you plan on sending a preamp out signal from your amps back to the amp switcher. Remember, the amp switcher has no load so you always need to have a speaker or load box connected to your amps at all times.

Regarding always having a load connected: My IIC+ has a 4x12 hooked up to it and my LSC is a 2x12 combo, so I should be fine, correct?

Could someone explain the purpose of the amp switcher? Especially if the rig already uses the GCX. Just curious.

Dave it switches between 4 amps, and can combine any combination of the 4. The GCX could do it as well I'm pretty sure, but in my case, I got the High Gain Switcher because I needed those loops in the GCX for some other stuff.

Alright that's pretty much what I thought. I've considered it before, and I have a GCX too. But whenever I got down to it, I thought maybe I'd be better off getting rid of the GCX and getting an RJM RG16 to save space in the rack and keep things simple.

I guess you have to have the HGS wired to the GCX so you can switch it all through your controller right?

Oh yeah. :D I'm psyched to get this thing. Paid it off tonight and it should be here by monday. The best part is that it comes with the full warranty even though its been in GC's warehouse for 7 years. Haha.
