I recently got a Mesa Mark III head and am having a little trouble dialing in a good Santana Tone. I'm playing through a Altec 417 Speaker and a PRS Santana SE guitar. Anyone have any tips on how to achieve this tone? I would appreciate if you'd share your settings. Thanks.

I am very much in the Santana school of tone and I live on these settings on the MkIIc+: V1 on 7 pulled, Treble 6 1/4 pulled, Bass 2-3 pulled, Mid 8 pulled, Master 2-3, Lead drive 7, Lead Master 2-3 pulled, presence on 1. Almost always with a PRS Santana III guitar. I ride the volume knob heavily, using 8-10 for sustaining notes mainly, treble knob usually rolled off a little too. My Mark III back up amp is close to these settings with sometimes a little more volume on the pre-amp but this should get you pretty close.

If you'd like a sound sample of how I use it here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRY3X_vqLoc

Gary,
That tune rocked. Are you a member of the official PRS forum? Those dudes would love to talk about your Santana, and your tunes.
