just a thought:
I know it doesnt say in the manual,
but why couldn't you run MKV in such setup?
the Simul-class is essentially the same as in MKIV?
you would just need to keep away from the 10W switch, probably.

I dont know man, you try it and then tell us how did it worked

unfortunately i dont have any EL34's on me... not sure if i have the guts anyway. ;)
perhaps ill just write to boogie.

yeah, probably the safest way..but for sure it would be an awsome discovery :)

Yes the Simul-Class is the same but the bias specs are different. You would need to find either EL34's that bias properly in the 6L6 bias setting or 6L6GC's that bias properly in the EL34 bias setting.

And stay away from the 10W setting.

BTW- The MKIV did not have the bias select switch

yeah i know it didnt, thats why im wondering.
i figured it only had to do something with bias because else is similar (well, the pairs are swapped but everything else)
and why was the MKIV so insensitive to EL34 type?
any details on bias?

i've written to boogie about it..
i mean, im sure they would have included it in the manual if it was that simple.

great thread, thanks.
do they run different compared to how they run in MK IV?
