Hi you all.
Just mounted in my rack a shiny brand new 2:90, my god what a sound !
Anyhow, this thing is a volume monster, and sure I can run it in "HALF".
My questions are:
1. What exactly happens inside the amp when runing in HALF ?
2. Can I damage the amp if I ALWAYS run t in HALF mode ?
Thanks.

You are talking about using the half drive switch or only using one channel?

yes I'm sure the half drive switch is safe all the time. probably engages a limiter in the circuit

if you are only using one channel, turn the unused volume all the way down and the presence all the way up

In the 50/50 half power limits the preamp drive voltage so it can't push the power stage as hard. I would assume they did a similar thing in the 2:90, but whatever they did would have been designed for constant use.

With the preamp drive limit, the power tube bias is unchanged, so tube wear is not reduced.

Thanks for answering.
Yes, I would like to run it in HALF drive when it is running @ 50w per channel in stereo (I'm using 2 cabs).
I will use it always in HALF mode since it is impossible to control the beast @ home when it unlashed on its full 2:90.
This thing is so powerful.
I will use a tip to ground short circuit PL plug in the back of the drive.
