I just brought my new Roadster 2x12" combo home and I have noticed that I can hardly hear the reverb even with the reverb control at its max. I have the fx loop in so i know that its not as simple as me not having he reverb enabled. I have been trying to get this working on CH 1 & 2 with not alot of luck.

I have been looking on the forum for a while now trying to find a similar poblem but I cant seem to pinpoint a similar post.

If anyone has had this issue it would really help if you could let me know what you did to solve it, or point me in the right direction as far as a thread goes. I'm just trying to figure out if I have to get a Mesa Tech involved, or can I fix it myself.

Thanks

One thing I notice on mine is that the amp really need to be cranked to hear the reverb. When I play at band volume, then the reverb can be heard correctly. Especially if you are using the channels 1 & 2 on "Tweed" and "Brit" mode. At home, playing at living room volume, I can't hear it at all...I think it really sucks.

Edit: If you get some answers from the Mesa tech let us know! :D

whats modes are you using on each channel because it makes a huge difference. For instance tweed on channel 1 has less reverb (or less noticible reverb) than fat or clean. I foudn the same true with modern compared to raw or vintage.

its funny that you say that regarding which channels im using because i am using tweed on channel 1 and brit on channel 2.

i didnt realize that it made that much of a difference......do we know why that is?

im not at home right now to try but i will tomorrow after work.

The only thing that is confusing is that TFridgen says that he has no problems which makes me think that there is something wrong.

Thanks for the posts though.

I have the exact same issue with my 2x12 combo. You can try changing the tube (should be v4). It didn't work for me. I can crank the reverb on any channel at any level and get nada. If I shake the amp I can hear it rattling but still have no audible reverb. I'm thinking Mesa got some bad reverb tanks. I just haven't taken the time to send it back but I need to so it's working when I sell the amp. Let me know if you find out exactly what the problem is.

No reverb issues here. I actually use a 12AT7 (Mullard CV2024) for a reverb driver and there's plenty in all channels. I never have the reverb above 10:00 in any channel.

Could be a bad tank, good luck.

Does anyone have any methods of troubleshooting a bad tank?

I honestly dont know exactly what i would be looking for if i took it apart.

Did you try changing V4? If you don't have any 12AX7's, just swap it with V5 or V6 and see if it makes a difference.

After that, best bet is to call Mesa Boogie. They could help you troubleshoot the reverb tank.

If the amp's new I'm sure the warrenty will cover a bad reverb tank, and it's real easy to swap.

i thought i read somewhere here that the tweed mode had little or no reverb since its such a loose sound it would just muddy it up. i've use ch1 fat mostly anyway so i've never noticed.

Same here, Ch1 Fat, Ch2 Brit, Ch3 Vintage, Ch4 Modern and I have plenty of reverb.

BTW- plenty of reverb does not mean swimming in it. At 9:00-10:00 on the dial it's noticable and adequate for me.

tweed does have less reverb but i couldnt tell you why. it's definitely intentionally but i couldnt tell you the reasons. maybe consult the manual or maybe someone else here can shed more light on it.

Ya, you guys are definetely right.....The tweed has far less reverb compared to the clean and fat channels.

I took out the V4 12AX7 and sprayed some contact cleaner on it before putting it back in......don't know if it was the cleaner or the fact that I pulled it out and put it back but the bottom line is that I can now hear reverb. I'm not swimming in it either, but at least its there and sounds good.

Thanks for all the posts guys.
