Don't know about the rest of you Roadster owners but if I run the 3rd channel in Modern Mod it won't pop when switching channels. My problem, I like the sound of channel 3 in Vintage Mod (I find the Vintage Mod in channel 4 to dark) With some tweaking I was able to get close to the channel 3 Vintage mod sound in channel 4 Modern Mod. I now use channel 3 in Modern Mod for my high gain lead sound. A bit of a compromise but no pop.

I wish Mesa Boogie would fix this problem

If, and I mean IF  I can remember to do the "standy-by shuffle" the pop is usually un-noticed at band volumes. It's still a b!tch at low volumes though, so at home I use my hotplate. I just leave the MV where it is and attenuate what I need. The pop gets buried in the signal I guess.

I still wish Mesa would at least acknowledge this as "normal behavior" in the manual. The amp sounds so great, and then there's the annoying little "POP".

I've said it before, and I'll probably say it again, as much as that "pop" annoys me, I'm so so glad that it's a regular thing. I would hate that this only happens to my amp, especially considering that: I ordered it all custom (I got the 2x12" combo and the 2x12" extension cabinet, both finished in the premier flame maple, with the translucent black stain finish) that cost SO much, and I had to wait over 4 months, and it was shipped with a blown speaker in the combo...luckilly the guy at L&M was good and changed it out with another "non-custom" finished Roadster that was in stock. It would just break my heart to know that the noise was just being made from mine.

Do you guys standby and then turn it on channel three before you turn off standy. If I have channel three selected when i turn off the standby then I have no pop at all. Just what works with my amp...might wanna try it.

That's very strange. Channel 4 should be noticably more present with most settings because the Presence control is tuned radically there, according to the manual. I don't hear much difference at all between vintage settings in the 2 channels with my Road King and it should have exactly the same preamp as the Roadster.

You can call Mesa and request the resistor that makes the Presence control work the same way in both channels. (Maybe have a local tech do the swap)

Now, I do find that Modern is radically louder and more lively in channel 4 regardless of the Presence setting. There must be more to the channel differences than Mesa has stated. Or maybe the circuit is extremely sensitive to resistor or capacitor values and close tolerance parts aren't being used.
