Hi,
this is my first post so forst of all I would like to say - HALLO !!!

the question :)
I have a possibility to but a Roadking 1 combo, but it's S/N is 377. I did some forum research and I found something like that:

I have owned four roadkings, known of them every failed me, i kept to one i have now for certain reasons.

Here are a few things, one if the amp is under 500 in the S/N make sure it has all the updates done, the first 500 had some recalls that mesa fixes for free.

Depending on what type of metal you are in will determine if this amp is right for you, there are alot better choices out there if you not into the recto tone or i should say groups that use the recto.

Mark IV is a great amp that covers all grounds from rock to some newer metal but you dont get the recto tone, but you can get damn close!

What is wrong with RK1 with serial number below 500??
Thanks in advance

Just as the post said, mesa did some recalls, I think there were like 3 all together, one was major because i believe if you didnt get it done it was possible to blow up the amp.

My advice to you is call mesa with the S/N and find out if the updates have been done, if they havent been find out if they are still done free under the recall.

If you get the updates done there is nothing wrong with the first 500.

Woah... reading this kinda stuff scares the crap outta me. I got my Road King about 4 years ago, 2nd hand. Its #33 and there is absolutely no way I can get it back to the factory!!!

I was saying that IF this kinda thing screwed up on mine, which it hasnt, i would be totally f%&#.

Well, look at it this way:

Will it be cheaper to ship your head back to Mesa to get it fixed, or buy another head? I know shipping from Australia won't be cheap, but that's cheaper than another Roadking, right? ;)

Even if my RK blew up and was unfixable, i wouldnt buy another Road King...

I'd keep this one and just look at it lustily because its amongst the first made. I'd actually go to a rack system i think
