Road King A/B/Y'd with Mark III - SICK!!!

Does either amp have a ground lift switch? The noise you're getting is common in dual head set ups and is most likely a ground loop.

good point, didn't think of that.

the Mark III is newer to me and does have a 3 way ground switch in the back, not sure what the different settings are for.

I don't know if the RK1 has a similar switch.

Are these switches to be used in these types of scenarios (A/B setup)?

I would certainly give it a shot. If you're nervous call Mesa, I'm sure they'll know.

I'd love to try this out with a RK and Mark IV one day! They didn't have any Mark IV's at GC but had a series 1 RK combo on sale for $1599 (no wonder I couldn't sell my purple people eater for the price I wanted!)

Yea, I've been doing this for about 6 months with my RKI & MKIV. Totally freakin' insane, best of both worlds!!!!!

I'm using an old primitive A/B switch that I bought in Japan about 20 years ago. I might jump on that Whirlwind Selector A/B Box though, only $89 bucks.

I bought the Lehle switcher instead. Incredible, Zero noise. My old noisy switcher went straight to the crap can. I can't describe how incredible the Road King and the Mark IV sound when being played together side by side. The loose rectifier coupled with the tight MK IV cover the entire spectrum of everything I have been searchin' for. This is a whole different world of tones that I have stumbled onto. Awesome beyond belief.
