This was probably beaten to death when the RK2 came out, but what are the differences between the 2 versions?

I know that the RK2 has the Lonestar cleans, but what else was changed????

And, how are the FX Loops on both of them?

For all the amp/tone testing you have in mind, you may need to take 2 days off work

My family doctor has an office at the music store. That's whey I end up there on half of my sick days....

Channels 1 and 2 basically got entirely redone (including Tweed and Brit), they removed the pentode/triode option on the RKII, better reverb, two series effects loops instead of one parallel and one series, and I think the tuner out/tuner mute was a new feature too..

I have a II. The effects loops both work fine (I bypass the loop but I noodle with them from time to time, mostly with a Boss DD3), and it's nice to have two.. you can assign delay to only your lead channel or EQ to only your rhythm channel or whatever. I know you use a G-system, and there's a guy on youtube who has (had? dunno if he still has it) great success with an RKII and G-system. Here's his youtube page so you can message him directly if you want:

Do the cleans on the original RK1 sound like the Tremoverb?????

I don't know for certain, but I would wager they sound more like a 3 channel Dual or Triple.

I have owned a tremoverb and I currently own a RK1, the RK1 has just as good or better cleans then the tremoverb, when it comes to distortion the RK1 is more of a mix between a dual rec and a tremoverb, defintly more mid's then the 3 channel rectifiers as not as buzzy.

I have never owned an RK2, however i have played serveral roadsters which I heard the RK2 sound damn close. What i can tell you is the roadsters are dark, to dark for me, and if you like the tremoverb then trust me you probaly will not like the RK2 if it is as dark as the roadsters.

Man that's too bad! The Tremoverb has some beautiful cleans!

I didn't get the chance to try the Road King.
I did try the Mark V and the Roadster. I will be keeping my DC-10 thank you!
I thought the Tremoverb sounded better than the Roadster. Granted, the Roadster can do so much more, but I'm not sure I want to spend 2K on an amp that isn't exactly what I want.

Yeah, that's not something you should do in general.

Why don't you shop brands a little bit? TONS of amp companies make awesome heads in similar price ranges, or you also could pick up killer used heads.

I think I'll just stick with the DC-10 & Tremoverb for now.
I would love to try a Soldano Decatone, but can't find one near me. Who am I kidding, the nearest decent store is 200 miles away! There is nothing near me but lower end Crates, Peaveys, and Fenders.

If you prefered the tremoverb over the roadster then you will probaly like RK1, the RK1 is more like the tremoverb with alot more options.

I still like my RK 1 the cleans are as good as RK2 just different. (I must confess a CCA PT100 keeps calling to me. )

can you mod the parellel loop into a series loop? I use my delay (Eventide TF stomp) with the killdry... it messes with the volume levels

the cleans on the RK1 are good as long as you have your output volume at 12' I find. though the tuner seems like a great feature and the better reverb...

roadkings are bears to work with at times but until I can afford to buy a 2 I swear by my 1

though sometumes I want to scream lol
