For me on the Hi/Lo channel, If I have the reverb on at very low volumes, it really sounds like crap. Makes the distortion sound very fizzy. I actually have to get a little above bedroom volume before I can use the reverb on those two modes.

Once I get to a certain volume it sounds fine.

And on the clean channel it sounds awesome at any volume.

I have just taken it for granted that this was just the case with all of them, but I had read some comments from others that implied they had the reverb on with the gain channels at low volumes.

So I just have to ask.

Is this normal?

I always assumed it was and thought the manual even mentioned it (to lazy to look it back up)

I find that the reverb set very low (8-8:30) sounds good for all modes of the ED even at low master volumes. That being said, I rarely play at "bedroom level" volumes so my comment my not be applicable. My "normal" playing level at home by myself are is with the master at 8:30 - 9:00 o'clock in 45W mode with the channel volume set around 1 - 3 o'clock if that helps any. Additionally, often times I bypass the reverb altogether. I do wish the reverb was footswitchable with the provided footswitch. I would find that very useful and handy.

It's not too much to buy a single button footswitch to control reverb with, although it is a bit of a pain to carry the extra cable and footswitch around.

As for the fizziness, I have the same problem. I believe the manual does mention that the reverb won't sound good with high gain. I don't remember if it mentioned low volume, too, but my ED gets worse at lower volumes too. Nothing to sweat, I think. Hopefully you're not performing with the ED on high gain and low volume. That's just wrong =P.

Yeah, once I get the master volume to the 8:30 -9:00 position it sounds fine on hi/lo as well. But that's pretty freaking loud.

It is when I have it very low, meaning I am watching tv and jamming.

Definately grab you another footswitch.

I had a standard single button latching switch with an LED. The only thing wierd for me was that with the LED in the circuit once you turned it on it would stay on and I could not turn it off. The switch was working fine. I tested it with a meter.

I popped open the footswitch and unsoldered one end of the LED and now it works fine.

I leave it plugged in all the time.

Fair enough Primal. :D

I just tested my amp with the channel volume set in the range of 12 - 4 o'clock with the master volume set at 7:30 during the test and the reverb set at noon. While the reverb that I get with this setting is way higher than I desire, all modes sounded fine. No crappy sounds at bedroom volume levels in any mode with this setting. Hope this helps. Now, back to cranking my amp up a bit and reducing the reverb mix to my taste! ;-)
