I have a Mark V:25 with a large, heavy 1x12 cabinet that sounds wonderful but is very heavy for an old guy. I have a lighter 1x10 Express Cabinet but it needs a new speaker. Any speaker suggestions?

how heavy is the 1x12 cabinet? The mini Rectifier 1x12 is only 32 lbs.

I would look at the Mesa Website for the 10inch speaker. They seem to have two basic 8 ohm speakers. Eminence and Jensen

There is a 10" Celestion V, and a cheaper but good Warehouse 10 that's similar. Depending on what you want, I like greenback type speakers with the Mark V25 as well, so the Warehouse ET or greenback type would be nice if you want more mid focused, less upper mid spike type tones.

I have no experience with the 10inch variety, there are a good number to choose from. Did not know Greenbacks were available, good for 30W. There is also a Celestion Gold as well (40W). Both of those are over $100. I have always loved the tone of the Greenbacks I have heard in the Vox amps but I believe those were 12 inch sized.

I put a new Celestion Neo Creamback in my M5:35 and it's a great speaker in that amp - the overall sound is so close to the orig. speaker that the difference is mostly un-noticable. it saves 8 lbs. off the total weight of the combo. What was a 44lb combo is now a 36lb combo. That may be a solution for your 1X12 cab...
