Removing fat mod from Lead 1 red

I have the Triaxis with the fat mod. I have been hearing recordings of Lead 1 red without fat mod. It sounds so much better than mine. But how will it compare to my Lead 2 modes. I think the Lead 2 modes are much heavier and more saturated than my Lead lead 1 red with the fat mod. Is it really worth me reversing the mod? Are you guys without the fat mod using your Lead 1 red?
If so could a local tech reverse the mod easily, or should I send it off to MESA? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks
