I don't know the makeup of players on this forum, ya know, in terms of how often they gig or play with a band. I was playing with a band for years and years, until we disbanded last winter. After about four months of playing in at loud bedroom levels, I have finally been playing in a new project that is a couple of weeks old. Every practice I am reminded of how fricken awesome the Roadster sounds. The amp just opens up and really isn't as dark as it seems under home playing conditions, even if you play loud. There is nothing like the Roadster LOUD! Just thought I'd share my Roadster love.

I agree dude. Loud, fat, full, massive crunch. Anything above 9:30 on the volume is magical.

I find that when playing at home and alone it's really easy to focus in on the little details that sort of irritate you... you know, the ones you'd never be able to hear over the sound of the snare drum.

My master has a point from 9:30 - 11:00 where it goes from blah to fuuuhhhhh. Its a real sensitive but drastic jump. Once I hit the fuuuhhhh level, I point my cab the other way for practices. I don't think I've played anywhere near 12:00 on the master for practices and gigs. I just turn the master to my fuuuhhhh level, then I let the PA take over.

Agreed. There is a point in volume about 10:00 when the amp opens up and you get that sound

ever try using a power soak at bed room levels ? rivera rock crusher or something ? or do you think the goodness is in the air being moved in the cab ?

A lot of it has to do with the speakers and the poweramp interacting at high volumes.. not really something you can achieve in a bedroom.

probably right. never had an attenuator. i just thought my amps always sounded good loud cause loud is great.

The other guitarist in my cover band uses a THD hot plate. He says he uses it so he can get that "cranked" tone without being too loud for smaller venues. I keep telling him the only way to get that "cranked" tone is to CRANK the damn thing haha! And if he's worried about being too loud for using a mic into the p.a. in a smaller bar, I tell him don't mic just crank. Your Dual can fill up the space without the p.a.
