Hi all, Im a first time poster and 7 year rectoverb owner. Overall I'd say I do love my amp but lately as my ears become more developed and as I try to find MY tone, I'm having some issues where I can't get what I want on the clean or dirty end without sacrificing the other.
My problem is this: I like my clean channel to have a fair amount of gain to it...I like to have it respond well to the sensitivity of my playing(without switching to pushed..not sure about you all but for me it sucks the life out of my tone as soon as i switch). I can more or less get that on the clean channel and that's great. But as soon as I step on the distortion pedal (ds2 run in a typical pedal chain to the input), it sounds muddy and squashed and basically garbage. I then turn the gain down and the ds2 sounds amazing and full but when i step off then my clean sounds like a dinky mickey mouse tone with no balls at all.
Now, ive twisted a lot of knobs and the only *kinda* solution ive found is to keep the gain at almost 0, the master pretty low, and the main output almost maxed. Its closer but even still its not completely ideal and the problem now is that im playing way too loud to just enjoy my tone in my house.
So my question is 2 part:
1. Is there a secret to achieving my desired tone through the way my signal chain goes or doing something "under the hood" of the amp.
2. Is there a way to possibly eliminate the delay when using amp distortion because I would gladly use that over the ds2 anyways.
and I guess a third: Should I be looking for a different amp?!
Thanks guys...this is just frustrating the hell out of me.
