can´t tell you cause i don´t know how the C90 sounds like.
but i use a combination of V30s and G12T75s. the V30s on top and the T75s on the bottom for the extra low-end.

Well, I was up early this morning so I thought I would go with the majority at the time and try the X-Pattern:

I'm hoping for the qualities of each to blend and compliment. Practice is Sunday morning (if I'm not snowed in!) so we'll see then.

I'm really interested to hear how this works out for you. I've got a V30 loaded Recto cab, and I'm extremely curious to know what the differences are.

Please report back!

Here's my first impressions after a full pratice.

The speakers seem to mix well. Cleans seem a little clearer and more robust, but the mids and highs needed a little tweaking at first. Bass response is fine, Recto all the way. When dirty I find the cab a bit smoother maybe, a bit less upper-mid 'stab' with nice low-mid authority. I found myself reaching for the Mid knob with rhythms and leads, but eventually settled back somewhat around where I started. I didn't touch the Treble in Ch3 Vintage, but I did tweak for awhile in Ch4 Modern. I'm always touching the Presence knob, so no comment.

It's a noticable change, even our Bass Player mentioned that he felt the amp sounded better in the mix for him. I felt it cut a bit better also, but I don't want to get over-zealous during the 'honeymoon stage'.

I'll need to give it a month or so to see if it's going to work for me, but it's a nice tone none-the-less.

Now, what to do with the 2 V30?

I was thinking of using some g1275's with v30s but cant decide. What tubes are you running Dom? I found my roadster really cuts awesome with el34's ,the 6l6's I was having problems in the mix just a thought!

And what to do with the v30's very simple answer want a bigger sound? Get an empty avatar 2x12 and load them in there and run the 4x12 and 2x12 you will love the sound empty avatar cabs are like 250 any color! :) just a thought.
Thanks again i think as soon as i get my stilleto cab ill have to try putting the c 90's in there!

I was thinking the same thing, the Comtemporary looks nice.

V1 – RFT 12AX7 (NOS)
V2 – Mullard 12AX7 (Vintage) or Matshushita 12AX7 (Vintage)
V3 – GE 17mm Longplate (Vintage)
V4 – Mullard CV2024 (NOS)
V5 – Mullard CV2024 (NOS)
V6 – Sovtek 12AX7LPS or Matshushita 12AX7 (Vintage)

I never felt I had any 'cut' problems before the swap. I'm sure the Bassist hears a different mix then me from the other side of the drum kit, and I may of just had the cabinet turned more towards him when I set up this time.

I tried the cab first with the SED =C= SV6L6GC I've been using for the last 9-10 months first for reference, then with a brand new quad of the TAD 6L6GC-STR.

The only non-6L6 type I've tried in the Roadster were JJ E34L's. Over the years I just find that I'm more of a 6L6GC guy.

looks like youve thought your tube selection through alot more then me! I just threw some el's in there and called it good. rock on bro!

Why dont you just get a roadking 4x12? 2 v30's and 2 c 90's, and they are placed properly, that is because of boogie's endless testing of speaker placement and open/close theories
vertically not diagonally. So, in the rk cab the vintage 30's are enclosed, and the c 90's are open. Your configuration encloses the c 90's (ca ca). C 90's are for open tuned backs not enclosed. Must sound ok, but boogies idea most likely wins out. good luck.
