I just got my first Mesa amp (TC-50) which I am really starting to enjoy more and more but I am looking to add a recto to my collection. Listening to clips it seems like the new multiwatts have a bit more of a pinched sounding upper midrange and a bit more present treble vs the older 2 channels which just have that broad expansive thickness and more traditional “recto sound”. According to some places on the internet, the 3 channel rev c/c+ (no “loop active” graphics and serial number <17881) are closer to the 2 channel sound. Is this accurate or just internet lore? Thank you for any and all input!

I had a rev g in the 90s, currently have a 2018 mw dr. Yes, the mw is fn bright, the eq seems very “spikey” compared to the rev g… inhave the presence almost off for modern, for vintage it at lie 9am…. The old rev g use to sit around noon…

As for those early 3 channels, personally I think they all sound bad. The mw sounds better… some of the very first runs had the 2 channel transformers that were left over….
