Recto help-Old 3 channel (rev c, c+) vs multiwatt

I just got my first Mesa amp (TC-50) which I am really starting to enjoy more and more but I am looking to add a recto to my collection. Listening to clips it seems like the new multiwatts have a bit more of a pinched sounding upper midrange and a bit more present treble vs the older 2 channels which just have that broad expansive thickness and more traditional “recto sound”. According to some places on the internet, the 3 channel rev c/c+ (no “loop active” graphics and serial number <17881) are closer to the 2 channel sound. Is this accurate or just internet lore?
