i got a 3 channel dual rec and was wondering if you can run two different types of rectifer tubes in it like one 5u4g and one 5ar4 without hurting the amp.

this might be a dumb question but i know everyone is searching for that tone and was wondering if this would help with it or if it would kill the amp

just to see if there was a new sound to be had from it i like the way both tubes sound and was wondering if you could combine the two

My understanding is that Rectifier tubes are not part of the tone circuit just a voltage feed so they shouldnt change the sound. I dont think I would mix them, but that just my 2 cents.

Preamp tubes can net you the biggest changes in tone, followed by power amp tubes. Your money would be better spent on these than Rec tubes.
