Hello everyone,
I know many use G-major as effect rack unit with their rectifier. I cannot put my master too high (max 10h30 or so). If I go further than that, I begin to overload the G-major. I know I can lower the input knob level, but only with a small margin, and I also found out that the overall volume will be the same anyway. It make me also feel that I cannot play louder that before (master lower that before). I cannot put the master the level I want to have the sound I want.

Do you have this same problem or something is faulty ?

I know on my Dual Rec. its just a hit and miss balancing act... of the channel volumes and the effects mix on the head as well as the in and out on the G-major and the effects levels and mix.

Myself, I get the input balance set (looking at the lights on the g-major) with the amp and the g-major's in and outs and then tweak the effects levels and mix till I get the sounds I am looking for.

Both my send and mix knobs are maxed. I use a Digitech 2101 instead of the G Major, and I don't have any issues with volume or anything else.

What's your input level setting on the G-Major- Pro or Consumer?

BTW- try leaving the mix @ 90% and back off a bit on the send (70-75%) to see if it helps.

Try setting up your channel masters with nothing in the loop first. Once you have all the channels set where you want them throw in the G-Major and adjust it's input level (and maybe the send on the amp too) so it does not clip at all in any channel (your clean channel should be the decieding factor there).

Next, adjust the output level on the G-Major so the amp is the same volume with either the fx loop in or out.

This should work out for you OK.

The input is set to Pro... on the Consumer this is a real mess, clipping guarantee here or money back...

I will try lowering the mix, but i cannot play on the send (not on the rectoverb). I'm not sure of the result though.

When I'm lowering the input on the G-major, the output cannot reach the same level with mix at 0%.

It seems to me that this is a limitation of the G-major / or the rectoverb not having a send level and I must make a compromise in order to play with it.

The recto has enough send level. I have a RK so I'm not sure how different your amp is in terms of effects loops, but basically I have a send knob on the back then my channel volume, and my output master.

From my understanding, and from reading the manual, the send knob sends what it gets from the channel outputs to the effects, and then the output determines how much of that signal reaches the power tubes.

What I've always done is set the send knob to unity gain (50%, 12oclock, whatever) so that it is not adding or subtracting any amount of gain than what's already coming off the tap on the channel knob. From there, just use your channel knob to juice up the signal if you need it, and use your master output to set the volume... is this much different than your set up or what?

Basically the same, except that I don't have any send knob, so the channel master controls directly the strength of the send signal.

I also found out that I overloaded my boss GE-7 in the loop (alone) at about the same master level  ... (I checked for faulty wire)

My Recto should be tested...
